Wireless near-eye monitor frees portable apps

Bluetooth-enabled device provides 12-bit QVGA color images

Using Bluetooth LAN technology, the DV-1 12-bit QVGA color near-eye monitor enables wireless, heads-up, hands-free image viewing. The 35-g device can handle both bit-mapped and text input from Bluetooth-equipped PDAs and PCs.

Eyeglass or headframe mountable, the device provides a virtual image that allows the user to maintain natural vision and awareness of the ambient environment. The monocular viewer is battery powered and readable in all lighting conditions.

The developer's kit includes a driver protocol for transmitting images over a Bluetooth serial link. ($5,000 per developer's kit-available now.)
